Who We Are

The Professional Volunteer Corps is Ann Arbor's only nonprofit service organization that's made up entirely of single people dedicated to lending a helping hand in the greater Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County area. Since 1989 we've been donating our time and energy to aid local non-profits with their projects.

PVC's 20th Anniversary Celebration Picnic

Members, alumni, and guests are invited to join us as we celebrate Professional Volunteer Corps' 20th Anniversary with a big picnic in Gallup Park on Saturday, July 25th, from 1pm to 6pm in the Maas Shelter. Meet current members, learn about the non-profits we help, and enjoy an afternoon of relaxed socializing and games. For more information, please call 734-332-9892.

PVC Keeps Helping Washtenaw Literacy

We earned an big "Thank you!" from Washtenaw Literacy for helping the 2008 World in a Basket auction gross over $100,000 - up 28% from '07. But their free literacy tutoring for over 600 adult learners last year did not eliminate the need.

PVC will be back this year, helping both with World in a Basket publicity mailing in August, and at the big event itself - Friday, October 2nd, in WCC's beautiful Morris Lawrence building. Washtenaw Literacy needs WiaB to raise 20% of their annual revenue, so please help, and help the thousands of local residents stuck in a world designed for those of us who can read!

PVC Paints for Artrain USA

We received a wonderful thank-you note from Artrain USA for our help painting part of their offices in Ann Arbor's NEW Center. As always, our volunteers were ordinary folks, not professional painters or artists. Members with more experience on painting projects were happy to teach.

Thank You to PVC from the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra

The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra sent their heartfelt thanks to PVC members and visitors for helping to label almost 6,000 postcards at several of our recent monthly meetings. The postcards have promoted the A2SO's Series Concerts, PVC's help has freed up scarce professional staff time for several more specialized jobs.

We post most of our events on the web, both as a convenient reminder for PVC's current members, and to tell possible future members more about us. But, except for our Monthly Meeting on second Fridays, you usually need to sign up ahead to participate in a PVC project or social event. So please e-mail us or drop in for our meeting, learn more about PVC, and sign up to participate in some of our events!
